EVENT CURATION | BRANDING
AQUEMINI FUNKTIONZ [uh-kweh-mihn-eye • funk-shunz] is a collaborative project between myself & my business partner Rocio Perez, we coordinated events with the intention to bring community together. We centered these events, or "funktionz," around all of the things we love: food, music, local art, good vibes, & Bay Area culture.
The name "Aquemini Funktionz" was derived from a combination of our zodiac signs, Aquarius + Gemini = Aquemini, also the name of an Outkast song. The "funktionz" aspect came to us by way of the Bay Area's affinity for our unrivaled vernacular. We wanted to create a brand that would be known for hosting unique events that impact & serve many diverse & marginalized communities.
Aquemini Funktionz began as a party, but soon became a movement that spoke to many people of different walks of life, especially to the marginalized peoples of San Francisco who have so desperately held onto their culture as well as their homes. Providing a safe space to bring people together has been the biggest & most rewarding aspect of this project.
Each event was curated to follow a special theme that we saw was lacking in the events we would often frequent. Being natural socialites, we cultivated & fostered relationships with many local artists, food vendors, musicians, & djs that aligned with each specific theme & curated a space for them to share their craft & talents with our communities.
