Aquemini Funktionz [uh-kweh-mihn-eye • funk-shunz] was a collaborative event series co-created by myself & my business partner & best friend, Rocio "Ro" Perez. Rooted in Bay Area culture, these gatherings brought people together through food, music, local art, & good vibes—creating space for connection, celebration, & community.

ORIGIN STORY
In 2017, Ro & I worked together to plan & execute our High School 10-year Reunion– she handled the logistics end, while I designed the flyer, drink tickets, & came up with the idea to design a 'prayer candle' as a party favor to commemorate our all-girl's catholic high school experience. The reunion was a success & we thought to ourselves that we could plan gatherings on a larger scale & for a bigger cause– to bring people together & create spaces we wanted to see & experience in the ever-changing Bay Area.

TAILOR-MADE
Our functions were curated to encapsulate specific themes unique to each individual event that we saw lacking in many events we would frequent in the city & surrounding Bay Area. As natural socialites, we cultivated & fostered relationships with many local artists, food vendors, musicians, & djs that aligned with specific events, & curated these spaces for them to coexist under one roof, & share their craft & talents with the community.

REFLECTION
Aquemini Funktionz began as a party, but soon became a movement that spoke to people across different walks of life, especially to the marginalized people of San Franciso who have so desperately held onto their culture as well as their homes. Providing a space to bring people together has been the biggest & most rewarding aspect of this project.
